An Egg-stravaganza at Hanson Park
For three years the staff of the Jackson County Swimming Pool have volunteered their time to host an event for the children of North Park on Easter Sunday. The popular EGG-stravaganza takes place on Easter Sunday at the Hanson Park (weather permitting). Pictures with the Easter bunny begin at 1:30 followed by an Easter egg hunt.
For kiddos wanting a picture with the Easter Bunny they receive a bunny bag that's generously filled with candy, bubbles and small trinkets as well. Pictures with the Easter bunny are free and are at the parents-will to take. The Easter mascot will be in attendance the duration of the EGGstravaganza but pictures will begin at 1:30 PM.
The hunt is split into four age groups in varying parts of the park. Youngsters are given the opportunity to scour the grounds of the beautiful Hanson Park in search of plastic, goody filled eggs, Easter baskets and stuffed animals donated to the Easter fun. Over 2000 neon and pastel eggs dot the landscape and are hidden in designated age group areas. There's over 30 baskets as well brimming with goodies. Grand prizes are given to a boy and a girl from each of the four age divisions. The grand prize prizes are bicycles or trikes- one for a boy and one for a lucky little girl in each age group.
Volunteers stuff the 2000 plastic eggs with sweet notions, create gift baskets and collect donations year-round. $2000 to $3000 is raised to put on this event hosted by Jackson County Swimming Pool Staff. The staff includes Cary Ramsey, Kayla Redman, Nikki Cornelison and volunteer extraordinaire, Christine Redman. Their families are also great help in setting up and preparing for this big event that youngsters in North Park look to look forward to each year.
Fundraising to put on the event is graciously done by the pool staff as well on volunteer time. They provide concessions at the peewee wrestling tournament and at the Snow Snakes Poker Run. The Stockman's Bar hosted a cribbage tournament and donated the proceeds to the hunt fund efforts. Goody baskets were donated by Mountain Parks Electric and other donations monetary donations are received at the Mountain Valley Bank Easter egg hunt account.
This is just one of many events put together by the Jackson County Swimming Pool staff in an effort to enhance community involvement and provide safe and fun activities for our youth. At Halloween they host the Trunk-or-Treat event at the swimming pool parking lot. This fall a scavenger hunt will be added to the Trunk-or--Treat event. More details on that to come this fall.
The staff of the Jackson County pool would like to extend a huge thank you towards the many donations that have come in and the support of funds raised by other events to help put on this volunteer Easter egg hunt event. Hop on down to the Hanson Park Sunday afternoon at 1:30 and join them in some fun at this Egg-cellent adventure this Easter Sunday.
